Driftwood Theatre’s 2019 Bard’s Bus Tour is looking for a Technical Director for its production of William Shakespeare’s A (musical) Midsummer Night’s Dream

The Bard’s Bus Tour is an annual summer Ontario tradition, touring to outdoor venues in communities across the province for 25 years.

The Technical Director is responsible for coordinating all production resources in an efficient, safe and effective manner within budgetary and schedule parameters, and will travel with the tour to set up and run live sound while providing hands-on support and supervision for the technical aspects of the production. The Technical Director reports to the General Manager and supervises 2-4 daytime crew members.

The successful candidate will: have at least two years of professional experience or training in technical theatre and production; possess a high degree of professionalism and time management skills; a full class G driver’s license with experience driving 16’ cube trucks (or equivalent); and have an ability to communicate effectively and work productively with artists and theatrical staff. Experience in LED lighting mixing/control, live wireless microphone mixing an asset.

Job Posting: Front of House & Customer Service Manager

Driftwood Theatre’s is looking for a front of house/customer service manager for its 2019 Bard’s Bus Tour season

The Bard’s Bus Tour is an annual summer Ontario tradition, this year celebrating 25 years of touring to outdoor venues.

The Front of House/Customer Service Manager is responsible for delivering safe, orderly, timely and enjoyable theatre experiences for Driftwood’s audiences, community partners, volunteers, donors and company members.

The Front of House/Customer Service Manager is responsible for managing onsite relationships with partners in each community; preparing, setting up and running box office, seating and concessions at each performance; supervising  summer student and volunteer assistants; maintaining financial and attendance records for performances and outreach activities; handling online and in-person banking while on tour and participating in the daily set-up and strike of the performance site.

The successful candidate will have: at least two years of related work experience including client/customer service and some degree of management; a high degree of professionalism and time management skills; cash-handling experience; a full class G driver’s license with clean driving abstract and experience driving large vehicles (Ford E350 chassis or equivalent); the ability to communicate effectively and work productively with artists, theatrical staff and volunteers; capacity for lifting and carrying supplies and equipment; and most importantly will demonstrate grace under pressure.

Driftwood Theatre believes in accessible, professional live theatre for everyone in Ontario: no matter where you live or how much money you have in your pocket. On the road since 1995 visiting communities across the province, Driftwood is Ontario’s leading outdoor summer touring theatre company, performing for over 100,000 people in city parks, campus fields, schools, heritage museums and public squares.

As a prospective director of this registered charity, you’re a tireless ambassador for accessible culture, ready to engage in governance, fundraising, visioning and hands-on assistance in your area of expertise and at events.

In 2019 Driftwood celebrates its 25th anniversary and we are particularly looking for board members with expertise in fundraising and accounting/financial management who will help us shepherd some exciting opportunities to build a financial base for the company’s future.

The board currently meets six times per year in the GTA, but we welcome interest from anywhere in the province. Though in-person attendance at meetings is preferred, attendance by Skype or conference call is possible when necessary.
