Video Editor/Technician

Reporting to the Artistic Director and Project Director, the Video Editor is responsible for logging and editing recorded elements of all Driftwood Digital 2021 projects. 

Duties and Responsibilities include

      • Logging and preparation of all recorded elements for editing
      • Editing one 8-part video series, five 10-minute digital plays, educational workshop series and accompanying trailers and ads as required
      • Format final products appropriately for airing
      • Upload content as instructed 
      • Attend and report at all production meetings

Knowledge and Skills Required

      • High degree of professionalism, motivation and time management skills
      • Experience in film production, videography, sound recording and editing
      • Proficiency in Google Suite Applications
      • Proficiency in video editing software
      • Ability to communicate and work productively with a small team of artists and staff
      • Ability to work independently according to rigorous timelines

Salary/Job Details

      • This is a full-time (35hrs/wk), contract position with some flexibility in the schedule
      • Contract dates: July 5 – September 12, 2021
      • Salary: $14.50/hr + 4% vacation for the duration of the contract
      • This position includes scope of work which will be conducted at home (daily work, Zoom meetings).
      • Driftwood is committed to a five-day work week, however this position may require evening and weekend work, and occasional travel. Time off in lieu of payment will be given for overtime.

Music Supervisor

Reporting to the Production Manager and Project Directors, the Music Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating, sourcing, acquiring rights for and producing all music elements for Driftwood Theatre’s Digital 2021 projects.

Duties and Responsibilities include

      • With the Creative Team, establishing music needs for all virtual projects
      • Sourcing, securing licensing for and/ or producing all music elements
      • Attend and report at all production meetings

Knowledge and Skills Required

      • Detail oriented, self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment
      • Exprience in music composition, recording and producing
      • Excellent organization and time management skills
      • Proficiency in all MS Office and Google Suite Applications
      • Proficiency with music recording and editing software

Salary/Job Details

      • This is a full-time (35hrs/wk), contract position with some flexibility in the schedule
      • Contract dates: June 28 – August 22, 2021
      • Salary: $14.50/hr + 4% vacation for the duration of the contract

Videographer (2 positions)

Reporting to the Artistic Director and Project Director, the Videographer is responsible for video production elements of all Driftwood Digital 2021 projects.

      • Set up and strike of all film (video and sound) recording equipment while on site
      • Recording, logging and preparation of all video and sound elements for editing
      • Regular maintenance and care of equipment
      • Attend and report at all production meetings

Knowledge and Skills Required

      • High degree of professionalism, motivation and time management skills
      • Experience in film production, videography and sound recording
      • Class G driver’s license with experience driving 16’ cube trucks an asset
      • Proficiency in Google Suite Applications
      • Proficiency in video editing software
      • Ability to communicate and work productively with a small team of artists and staff

Salary/Job Details

      • This is a full-time (35hrs/wk), contract position with some flexibility in the schedule
      • Contract dates: June 21 – August 29, 2021

Head of Wardrobe

Reporting to the Production Manager and Project Directors, the Head of Wardrobe will be responsible for styling, sourcing, purchase and build of all wardrobe for Driftwood Theatre’s Digital 2021 projects.

Duties and Responsibilities include

      • Establishing looks for all wardrobe elements with the Creative Team
      • Sourcing and purchasing materials
      • Pattern drafting, cutting and stitching
      • Wardrobe assembly, alteration, fittings and repairs
      • Wardrobe budget management
      • Attend and report at all production meetings

Knowledge and Skills Required

      • Detail oriented, self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment
      • Experience in wardrobe sourcing, patterning, cutting and stitching
      • Excellent organization and time management skills

Duties and Responsibilities include

      • Establishing props list with the Creative Team
      • Sourcing and purchasing materials
      • Drafting and drawing
      • Props assembly, alteration and repairs
      • Props budget management
      • Attend and report at all production meetings

Knowledge and Skills Required

      • Detail oriented, self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment
      • Experience in properties sourcing, drafting building and repair
      • Excellent organization and time management skills
      • Proficiency in all MS Office and Google Suite Applications

Production Manager

Reporting to the Artistic Director, the Production Manager is directly involved with the preparation and management of overall production elements and scheduling for all Driftwood Digital 2021 projects. 

Duties and Responsibilities include

Management

      • Work with director and production staff in realizing all production elements
      • Supervise and coordinate the construction and installation of all sets, props, and costumes.
      • Manage and maintain expenses within the production budgets, providing accurate and orderly records of all production expenses
      • In consultation with the Artistic Director, develop, communicate production calendar and daily schedules
      • Provide guidance, mentorship and correction to production personnel when necessary
      • Coordinate purchase, rental, maintenance and returns (where applicable) of all production elements
      • Make recommendations on capital equipment expenditures for production areas
      • Attend all design, production and post-mortem meetings

Personnel

      • Train and supervise all crews in the safe use of all equipment requiring use in the show.
      • Ensure that all production personnel are familiar with their job descriptions and abide by all company policies and procedures.
      • Compile and maintain Emergency Information forms from all day crew members, including emergency contacts, allergies, and medical conditions.

Health & Safety

      • Be familiar with the safe and efficient operation of all equipment used in the preparation and production of the show, including lighting and sound instruments and control boards, rigging, deck.
      • Be responsible for teaching general safety procedures and working practice on site.
      • Report any accidents/incidents promptly to the Artistic Director.

On Site

      • Act as Production Driver when required
      • Ensure that any additional equipment or material needed for a site is obtained.
      • Abide by and ensure that all the theatre’s On Site policies are adhered to.
      • Conduct daily systems check
      • Record sound, including live wireless lav mixing, for all filming
      • Supervise and assist in all set ups and strikes
      • Supervise and/or conduct any necessary repairs incurred during the contract.
      • Submit any recommendations regarding repairs and replacement to the Artistic Director.

Other

      • Uphold the professional image and name of the Theatre in good faith during all dealings with staff, guest artists, the public, suppliers and partners
      • At conclusion of contract, provide feedback and suggestions for updating of this position description.

Knowledge and Skills Required

      • High degree of professionalism, motivation and time management skills
      • Experience in technical theatre, production or stage management
      • Class G driver’s license with experience driving 16’ cube trucks
      • Excellent organization and time management skills
      • Experience in sound recording for film an asset
      • Proficiency in all MS Office and Google Suite Applications
      • Ability to communicate and work productively with artists, theatrical staff and
      • Ability to build positive relationships with a variety of industry suppliers
      • First Aid certification an asset

Communications Coordinator

Reporting to the Development and Communications Manager, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of online publicity and communications for Driftwood Theatre’s Digital 2021 programming and outreach initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities include

      • Liaising with the Artistic Director, Directors and Creative Teams to develop publicity materials and packaging for all projects
      • Developing and implementing monthly, weekly and daily social media plans (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Driftwood website) with qualifiable and qualitative goals
      • Evaluating and reviewing communications plans on a regular basis
      • Coordinating PR events with company members, community partners and the public

Knowledge and Skills Required

      • Experience in and understanding of non-profit performing arts organizations

Sales and Partnership Clerk

Under the guidance of the Development and Communications Manager, the Sales and Partnership Clerk will work to coordinate all sales and partnerships with customers, both individual and corporate for Driftwood’s Digital 2021 series.

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Under the direction of the Development and Communications Manager, approach and secure successful partnerships with stakeholders (public, partners, sponsors)
  • Communicate and coordinate sales relationships with all project customers (public, partners, sponsors), acting as a liaison between the theatre and customers
  • Ensure all details of customer relationships (ticket purchases, perks, partner benefits) are met or exceeded
  • Maintain a database of the details of all corporate partnerships and sponsorships
  • Provide weekly sales and partnership reports

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Experience in and understanding of non-profit performing arts organizations an asset

Background

Driftwood Theatre is driven by a vision of theatre for everyone in Ontario. For over 25 years we have been sharing our annual Bard’s Bus Tour of outdoor summer theatre with communities across the province. Development and Communications Manager – Position Summary

Reporting to the Artistic Director, the Development and Communications Manager manages the daily activities of the Theatre’s development and communications projects, building connections with our many supporters while promoting the theatre’s vision and work to the public.

Development

  • Evaluate and audit the Theatre’s donor and funder database, fundraising activities and events
  • Research, identify and build relationships with foundations, sponsors and funding organizations; engage with program officers, effectively and persuasively present Driftwood’s case for support; build and submit applications, proposals, supporting documents and reports in collaboration with the Artistic Director
  • Create and execute a strategy for growing base of annual individual donors; manage and execute annual giving campaign
  • Steward and manage all donor, sponsor and partner relationships and benefits
  • Create and execute a fundraising event strategy for the Theatre

Communication

  • Create strategic content for a range of audiences with a goal of broadening the Theatre’s reach and establishing our voice through a variety of platforms
    • Printed materials: brochures, appeals, newsletters
    • Digital presence: social media platforms, emails, website
  • Track and analyze engagement metrics to meet targeted goals and refine messaging for increased effectiveness
  • Initiate new marketing endeavours that elevate the presence, mission and accomplishments of the Theatre
  • Identify key audiences for the Theatre and design targeted communications to reach these segments
  • Supervise and manage seasonal Development and Communications staff

 Governance

  • Prepares and submits reports for all Board meetings
  • Attends all Board meetings
  • Work with the board and its committees to support the theatre’s activities

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Salary range: $35,000 – $40,000 + 4% vacation for the duration of the contract (12 months)
  • All Driftwood staff work from home, participating in regular meetings online and/or in-person (when it is safe to do so)
  • Driftwood is committed to a five-day work week, however this position may require evening and weekend work, and occasional travel. Time off in lieu of payment will be given for overtime.
