Summer Jobs Posting with Driftwood

Driftwood Theatre’s 2019 Bard’s Bus Tour is looking to fill three summer jobs as part of its upcoming 25th Anniversary production of A (musical) Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Applications are being welcomed for Outreach Coordinator, Apprentice Tour Producer and Technical Director/Sound Technician

The Bard’s Bus Tour is an annual summer Ontario tradition, touring to outdoor venues in over 25 communities for 25 years.

OUTREACH COORDINATOR

Reporting to the General Manager, the Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of Driftwood Theatre’s summer outreach initiatives including the Shakespearience Festival, Community Picnics, Beyond the Bard readings and educational displays/activities related to the summer performance. Tasks and responsibilities include: scheduling special events, classes and workshops; publicizing outreach activities; outreach to presenting partners; participant recruitment and liaison; coordinating artists, guest speakers and instructors; preparing reports for presenting partners and funders.

Based in Peterborough, the Outreach Coordinator will also be required to assist at some events in the GTA and at Driftwood’s touring locations.

The successful candidate will have experience in event management and educational projects and possess a professional, hardworking, outgoing and personable disposition with excellent communication and management skills, and a passion for the theatre. Access to a vehicle required.

Employment Details: Full Time x 8 weeks @ $14.25/hr (evening and weekend work required)

Location: Peterborough with some travel required

APPRENTICE TOUR PRODUCER

Reporting to the General Manager, the Apprentice Tour Producer will assist in all aspects of managing Driftwood’s summer tour, including: liaison with presenting partners and funders, social media management, production management, scheduling, publicity, sales and patron management.

Based in Peterborough, the Apprentice Tour Producer will also be required to assist at some events in the GTA and travel to some of our tour locations.

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and sales skills, comfort in Office and G-suite as well as experience in project management and possess a professional, hardworking, outgoing and personable disposition with excellent communication and management skills, and a passion for the theatre. Access to a vehicle required.

Employment Details: Full Time x 8 weeks @ $14/hr (some evening and weekend work required)

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR/SOUND TECHNICIAN 

The Technical Director is responsible for coordinating production resources in an efficient, safe and effective manner within budgetary and schedule parameters, and will travel with the tour to set up and run live sound while providing hands-on support and supervision for the technical aspects of the production. The Technical Director reports to the General Manager and supervises crew members.

The successful candidate will have: at least two years of training in technical theatre and production; a high degree of professionalism and time management skills; a full class G driver’s license with experience driving 16’ cube trucks (or equivalent); and an ability to communicate effectively and work productively with artists and theatrical staff. Experience in LED lighting mixing/control an asset, live wireless microphone mixing required.
