Driftwood Summer Job Posting: Props and Miniature D&D Terrain Builder for Driftwood’s Summer Camps

Driftwood Theatre is back again with another adventure-filled summer of improvisational story-building for kids. And this year, that means we need some extra-special props and miniature terrain to help immerse our young participants into the wonderful worlds of D&D.

Driftwood is on the lookout for a Props and Miniature D&D Terrain Builder to join Artistic Director Jeremy Smith, and Assistant DM/Camp Counselor Pen Tsin as they lead three epic summer Dungeons & Dragons camps in Prince Edward County.

Props and Miniature Terrain Builder

Reporting to the Artistic Director/Lead Dungeon Master, the Props and Miniature Terrain Builder will be responsible for realizing all program props and miniatures for Driftwood’s summer camps (July 28-August 1, August 5-8, August 25-29).

The Props Coordinator will be directly involved in interpreting design drawings and mood boards, purchasing materials, assembly and repairs. As this is a learning position, the Props Coordinator and Camp Assistant will also receive instruction in: time and financial planning in order to successfully bring a design to production on time and within budget; camp programming and execution, including storytelling-based activities; and outdoor summer safety.

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Working under the direction of the Artistic Director and Assistant DM to interpret designs, purchase materials, construct, paint and repair all miniature game props and pieces
  • Ensuring timely delivery of all prop and miniature elements
  • Ensure a safe, respectful and fun environment for all participants
  • Attending and reporting at all pre-camp design and production meetings

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Detail oriented, self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment
  • Experience in either scenic prop or miniature model design and construction
  • Experience in playing table top games (like Dungeons and Dragons)
  • Experience working with children/children’s programming an asset
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Google Suite Applications an asset

Salary/Job Details

  • Full-time (35hrs/wk), contract position with some flexibility in the schedule
  • Contract dates: eight weeks, starting on either July 2 or July 9, 2025
  • Salary: $20/hr + 4% vacation for the duration of the contract
  • This position will include primarily remote work, with regular meetings conducted via ZOOM

Driftwood Theatre’s 2022 Bard’s Bus Tour is expanding its summer team with a number of positions

After nearly three years, Driftwood Theatre is finally moving forward with hope of a return to live, outdoor touring summer theatre. We’re looking for some creative, outgoing and friendly folk to help us manage, create, and celebrate our plans for The 2022 Bard’s Bus Tour.

Event Marketing and Outreach Coordinator

Reporting to the Manager of Development and Communications, the Event Marketing and Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for acting as a liaison between Driftwood Theatre and our community partners for all projects and activities related to the 2022 Bard’s Bus Tour.

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Ensuring timely distribution of marketing materials and communications with all partners
  • Connecting with all partners to ensure that materials produced meet Driftwood’s requirements and standards
  • Connecting Driftwood’s digital team to partners for cross-digital marketing plans
  • Coordinating details of outreach events between Driftwood Theatre and its partners

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Detail oriented, self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment
  • Experience in digital marketing and communications
  • Excellent organization and time management skills

Communications Coordinator

Reporting to the Manager of Development and Communications, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of online publicity and communications for Driftwood’s 2022 summer programming, including Community Play and educational displays/activities related to the Bard’s Bus Tour.

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Liaising with the publicist, the production’s director and creative team to develop publicity materials and packaging for the summer season
  • developing and implementing monthly, weekly, daily social media plans with quantifiable and qualitative goals
  • evaluating and reviewing communications plans on a regular basis
  • coordinating PR events with company members, community partners, the media and the public

Front of House Manager

Reporting to the Producer, the Front of House Manager will be responsible for delivering a safe, orderly, timely and enjoyable theatre experience for Driftwood’s audiences, presenting partners, volunteers, donors and company members.

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Managing onsite relationships with presenting partners in each community
  • Preparing, setting up and running box office, seating and concessions at each performance
  • Supervising all front of house volunteers
  • Maintaining financial and attendance records for performances and outreach activities
  • Handling online and in-person banking while on tour
  • Participating in the daily set-up and strike of the performance site

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Detail oriented, self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment
  • Experience in client/customer service and some degree of management
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Cash-handling experience
  • Full class G driver’s license with clean driving abstract and experience driving large vehicles (Ford E350 chassis or equivalent) is an asset

  • Salary: $20/hr + 4% vacation for the duration of the contract, and $135 per/diem for overnight stays while on tour
  • This position will work primarily from Toronto, with some time in Picton, ON during rehearsals and pre-production, and travel while on tour.

Wardrobe Coordinator

Reporting to the Production Manager and Production Designer, the Wardrobe Coordinator will be responsible for styling, sourcing, purchase and build of all wardrobe for Driftwood Theatre’s 2022 Bard’s Bus Tour projects.

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Working under the direction of the Production Designer to realize all wardrobe elements for productions
  • Sourcing and purchasing materials
  • Pattern drafting, cutting and stitching
  • Wardrobe assembly, alteration, fittings and repairs
  • Wardrobe budget management
  • Attend and report at all production meetings

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Detail oriented, self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment
  • Experience in wardrobe sourcing, patterning, cutting and stitching
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Proficiency in all MS Office and Google Suite Applications

Salary/Job Details

  • This is a full-time (35hrs/wk), contract position with some flexibility in the schedule
  • Contract dates: June 6 – July 17, 2022
  • Salary: $20/hr + 4% vacation for the duration of the contract
  • This position may work from home, participating in regular meetings online and/or in-person and fittings in-person
  • Driftwood is committed to a five-day work week, however this position may require evening and weekend work, and occasional travel
  • Time off in lieu of payment will be given for overtime

Web Marketing Coordinator

Reporting to the Manager of Development and Communications, the Web Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of digital engagement programs as part of Driftwood’s summer programming, including Community Play and educational displays/activities related to the Bard’s Bus Tour.

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Liaising with Driftwood artists for online interviews
  • Liasing with the publicist, the production’s director and creative team to develop publicity materials and packaging for the summer season
  • developing and implementing free digital content to accompany live programming including recording and editing videos and preparing them for release

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Detail oriented, self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment
  • Experience in digital marketing and communications
  • Experience in recording, editing and posting social media content
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively and work productively with artists, theatrical staff and volunteers
  • Proficiency in all MS Office and Google Suite Applications
  • Proficiency with Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, WordPress an asset

Salary/Job Details
