LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Driftwood Theatre would like to acknowledge that as we come together to share stories, we want to recognize that we already share one. We are, all of us, here because our grandmothers and grandfathers were caretakers; of their children, of the land, the animals, of our stories and histories. And their grandmothers and grandfathers before them. We are joined by a collective story held by the caretakers of the lands upon which Driftwood Theatre resides and operates. A vast collection of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, past and present, which includes the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe, and Haudenosaunee peoples and our neighbouring Kanien’keha:ka community of Tyendinaga. Thank you to our ancestors; to those who came before us, who teach us to care and share responsibility for each other and our lands. For their wisdom and generosity. For allowing us to gather this day and share.
