The show must go on…
Here at Driftwood, we’ll do whatever we can to make sure a performance can continue, despite the weather. In case you are wondering about whether or not to head down to a performance on a rainy (or otherwise not-so-good) day, here are some things to keep in mind:
Look for the 100% Guarantee
Some of our shows will take place rain or shine. Look for the ‘100%’ marking on out Tour Schedule. That means that even if the weather is really bad outside, the show will go on. We’ll just move it to a nearby indoor venue. There will always be someone on site to guide you to our back up location, but you can also find updates on Driftwood’s website and social media (Facebook, Twitter) on the day of the performance (we typically post at 2pm, 4pm and 6pm as necessary).
Some venues have a ‘Shelter’ designation. This means that the show will continue in a nearby sheltered area under most weather conditions, except high winds and/or thunder storms. Again, check Driftwood’s website and social media on the day of the show for updates.
And what if there isn’t a Guarantee?
If we don’t have a guaranteed or sheltered venue in your area, we’ll still do our best to make sure the show can go on. We have a 30-minute wait policy at all venues, which means that even if it is raining at show-time or starts raining during a show, we’ll pause and wait up to 30 minutes for the weather to clear.
When in doubt, it’s always best to head down to the site. If for no other reason than to help us sing our ‘rain, rain go away’ songs.
As always, we encourage people to stay informed about the weather conditions in their area and not to travel in weather deemed to be unsafe. And you can always check for updates at driftwoodtheatre.com, and on Driftwood’s social media (Facebook, Twitter).
